Eastern Kentucky University College of Education in conjunction with the
Department of Mathematics and Statistics are forming Master’s Degree level
cohort programs leading to a Masters
of Arts in Education in Elementary Education with an option in Middle Grade
Mathematics (5-9).
l Curriculum Design
l This curriculum is designed to help participants achieve personal professional goals and develop advanced competencies in professional education, academic areas, and professional interpersonal relationships.
l Highlights
of the program offering:
(Middle Grades)
l 30 credit hours, 5 semester format (2 classes per semester- 3 credits per class)
l 18 hours of graduate credits in middle grades mathematics/statistics/computer applications
l For current Middle Grades Mathematics Teachers
l For elementary emphasis teachers looking to “certify up” to middle grades mathematics certification or for Middle Grade certified teachers looking to add Mathematics.
l Praxis preparation embedded in curriculum.
l Cohort forming in the fall of 2008.
– Begins classes in Spring 2009
– (Finish in the summer of 2010 –less than 2 years- only 19 months total)
l Designed by Mathematics Teachers for Mathematics Teachers.
l Streamlined admission process.
